The Australian Youth and Road Trauma Forum was the first of its kind in Australia, comprehensive in its format and content and unique as a community education and injury prevention initiative developed and run by a Trauma Centre as opposed to a Government Agency or Private Organisation. It was initially run as a pilot program at the hospital with a total of 400 high school students in the local area and following its enormous success and overwhelming response and demand from the community, it was finally launched as a State wide Forum and run at the Acer Arena, on the site of our Olympic Park  It is now in its sixth year and last year reached over 10,000 high school students from across NSW and Canberra.

This project has immense potential to prevent injury, loss of life and save money not only for the health dollar but also for the family and community, as trauma is a disease that affects more than the patient.

The total cost of running the forum is covered by Westmead Hospital Trauma Service with assistance from other non government organistaions. Obviously, as part of a public health service, funding is sometimes scarce and the Trauma Service could benefit with the help of public donations. All gifts/donations, no matter how small, are important in sustaining the vision of the Youth and Road Trauma Forum into research, education and injury prevention.

Donations can be made by enclosing a cheque or money order  to:  Youth and Road Trauma Forum, Trauma Service and sending it to:
