Careflight: Since 1986 NRMA CareFlight has provided the people of NSW with one of the world's most advanced and medically proficient, rapid-response emergency helicopter and medical retrieval services.
Unlike any other air medical service in Australia, only CareFlight employs its own specialist doctors and holds teaching accreditation with the three medical colleges covering the critical care fields of Anaesthetics, Emergency Medicine and Intensive Care.
CareFlight medical teams are able to respond by helicopter, road ambulance and fixed wing air ambulance aircraft, depending on the circumstances.
At the Acer Arena, CareFlight will have doctors and paramedics on hand demonstrating the various life saving methods used at roadside or industrial accidents or in the canyons of the Blue Mountains. Featured will be our
Sim-Man, a $35,000 dummy that is used to train our medical staff. Sim-Man breathes, bleeds and screams!
More than 1,200 critically ill and injured patients are treated or transported each year by NRMA CareFlight with almost 14,000 patients treated over the past 19 years.

Brain Injury Unit: For every road trauma death, eight or nine individuals will survive - two or three with brain injury. Have you ever stopped to think how a hit on the head or a car accident could change your life forever? At the Brain Injury Awareness stand in the display area you can speak with people who have experienced brain injury and live with the consequences every day of their lives. Staff from the Westmead Brain Injury Unit and the Brain Injury Association of NSW will be available to answer your questions.

Trent Driving Simulation: The Trent Driving Simulation display will include two reflex testers, which show the distance, travelled when a driver reacts to a problem such as the car in front stopping suddenly. The testers are little cars, with an accelerator and a brake that the driver sits in. They press the accelerator and watch a screen in front, which has a picture of a car on it with brake lights. When the brake lights come on they have to take their foot off the accelerator and put it on the brake. The time it takes to do that is measured in meters travelled. The point of the exercise is to emphasize the 3-second following rule and always leave enough space between themselves and the vehicle in front. The good thing about the machines is that they don't need much explaining and large numbers of people can get a go.
We will also have a computer and screen running where we will give hints and tips on learning to drive, along with advice from our staff, who will be there. We will give each person a folder containing tips for safe driving and information about speeding, alcohol and fatigue.
Subaru Car Safety Features: This display will have a full size car cut away of the B9 Tribeca to show the internal workings of the vehicle, which provides for a better understanding of how each part of a car works.
In addition, there will be also be a display unit showing how Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) works. This is Subaru’s stability and traction assistance system on Liberty 3.OR and Outback 3.OR.
There will be representatives from the technical department to answer any queries.
St John Ambulance: St John Ambulance’s role in this forum is to make sure that the students know what to do if they are in a car crash. While St John Ambulance Australia
(NSW) does not have an active role in the prevention of youth road trauma, we feel that if basic first aid is known, then lives can be saved. Youth road trauma takes far too many young lives away and St John Ambulance Australia feels that if we can equip young people with the knowledge and tools to save a life then our purpose has been fulfilled.
St John Ambulance Australia (NSW) is a charitable organisation providing first aid training, first aid kits and first aid volunteers to the community.

Wheelchair Sports NSW: The "Arrive alive" Wheelchair Sports Roadshow began in 1998 when NSW Wheelchair Sports Association conducted the Gold Cup World Wheelchair Basketball Championships.
In 2000, the Motor Accidents Authority of NSW became naming rights sponsor of the Wheelchair Sports Roadshow under their youth banner " Arrive alive" and with that the focus of the Roadshow changed as well. Now the presenters also talk with the students about driving behaviors and the way to increase their own road safety decision-making. The physical presence and the stories the presenters have to tell have a great impact on the students. This point is further reinforced by the wheelchair basketball game where students experience what it’s like to be in a wheelchair, if only temporarily as they are able to walk away after the game.
In conclusion, the Roadshow raises awareness of wheelchair sport, creates a greater understanding of people with disabilities, encourages acceptance and integration, promotes the Association to potential new members and includes the " Arrive alive" message and associated road safety messages.
